The basilisk is a creature of the chimera genus, formed by a mixture of a rooster and a reptile, generally a snake. They have the body, face and wings of a rooster, and the tail of a reptile.
Basilisks hatch from an egg rejected by a hen, which is not oval but round, and must be incubated by a reptile.
They have the rare ability to petrify their prey with their eyes, as well as the power to poison them using their long, sharp fangs that secrete poison from their own saliva. Their sharp claws allow them to tear even the toughest of hides from their prey, and they often attack from the air.
They feed on both seeds and meat, as their beak makes it easier for them to obtain and process both foods. As for meat, they usually attack groups of cattle, and rarely come close to human settlements, but this does not mean that there have not been cases of basilisks that have eaten a human.
They usually inhabit regions with hot climates due to their reptilian condition, as they are cold-blooded and their body temperature will depend on the temperature of the environment where they live. So in cold environments they are much less active than in warm regions.
